Sliding security gates require less space to operate than swing gates and also offer better security, this makes them a good alternative to swing gates. Sliding security gates come in two types, cantilever and ground tracked.
Cantilever gates need no track to operate as they are gates hanging on horizontal posts. They can be hung behind a wall perimeter and work silently. They require more space and are more expensive to buy and install than tacked gates.
Ground Tracked Gates
There are two main components for ground tracked gates. Firstly there is the rail on which the gates slide and which is embedded in the ground spanning the opening, and it is advisable to keep the rail free of debris at all times. The surface where you lay the rail must be properly leveled. Secondly, there are the wheels below the gates which help the gate to slide smoothly on the rail track.
Both the ground track and cantilever gates offer their own advantages and disadvantages, so you should always consider carefully which gate is best for your property before making your choice.
