Razor Wire for Extra Security

razor wire palisade fenceAs we all know, fences have been used for protecting our property by increasing security and also providing some privacy.

There are many boundary wall options to secure our properties today, and it is good to look at all options before deciding what will work best for our needs.

Today we look at razor wire.   There are benefits to installing razor wire on top of walls for extra security.

As razor wire is difficult to cut due to the steel used to design the wire being very hard, it makes it very difficult for anyone to cut the wire and enter your property.

Once you have installed the wire, it is virtually impossible for anyone to trespass, so it is a really goodrazor wire mesh fencing option, and will enhance the protection of your property and make it far more secure.  Anyone foolish enough to try and climb over the fence or cut it, will end up with very serious deep and painful cuts.

Razor wire can be installed on top of any fence to make it more secure.  One thing to remember is that the fence must be at least 1.8m whether a concrete fence, or palisade.  This is so that innocent people or animals are not caught up and injured by the wire.

Razor wire is extremely robust and as it is galvanized it has great resistance to corrosion, so it will stay a long time without need of replacement.

It is a good idea to look at the pros and cons of adding razor wire to your boundary fence for added security.  There are different types of razor wire, so you need to know which type would best suite your needs.

Perimeter Security Fencing

security wallSecuring our properties with good security fencing is now a prerequisite in South Africa.   We are all aware of the high crime rate, and to keep our family and property safe is our number one priority.

High boundary walls seem to be the best option, but do you know, criminals love high walls.  They can scale the walls and enter your property, and once there they are invisible to neighbours and passers-by.

Having a low wall with steel palisade fencing inserts is a good option, although it does limit your privacy if that is your main concern.  The low wall will prevent small children and animals from wandering out into the streets, and the palisade will give you a perfect few of all passers-by and anyone attempting to enter, and if you have devils fork razor wire or electric wiring on top, it will be a good deterrent.

A solid wall is not a deterrent to criminals, unless you have electric wiring or razor wire at the top to stop thempalisade climbing over.  There are many options for secure boundary fencing, and we need to explore each option before making a decision as to which fencing is best suited to our needs.

It is always a good idea to make provision for 100mm drainage pipes every few metres to provide drainage for surplus groundwater that might other dam up behind the wall.  Drainage pipes are very good, especially in high rainfall areas.
